Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. What is meant by different strengths of concrete?
A. Concrete is graded by PSI, or "Pounds per Square Inch." We will be happy to assist you with choosing the most suitable concrete for your needs.
Q. Does the weather affect concrete?
A. Yes. Factors like excessive heat, cold, snow, or rain may impact the workability of concrete; however, nearly all but the most extreme conditions can be accounted and adjusted for by the addition of admixtures or adjusting the cementitious content of your individual load. Our staff can draw on years of experience to take care of your needs.
Q. Do you have your own labor force for installing foundations and floors?
A. No, but we work closely with area contractors and can help you navigate the tricky waters of choosing the best installers to do your project.
Q. Why does concrete crack? Can anything be done to prevent it from happening?
A. All concrete will crack, either at the microscopic level or so it is visible to the naked eye. We recommend compacting all subsurfaces prior to pouring so that cracking will be held to minimal levels. Adding fibermesh to your concrete will also help to inhibit cracking. Ask for it when you call, but remember: Concrete always cracks!
Q. I just had the concrete poured for my patio/driveway/sidewalk, etc. How soon can I use it?
A. Concrete takes 28 days to reach its design strength; however, given ordinary weather, it should be fine for foot traffic within 48 hours. It should be at 75% of its design strength within 7 days, but heavy loads should be kept to a minimum until the requisite time period has passed.
Q. How far in advance should I call to place my order?
A. The rule of thumb is: The more notice the better. Service is #1 here at Graziano Redi-mix, and we try our very best to arrive at your job when promised. The bigger your order, the more notice you should try to give. We will always do our best to accommodate you, but we will give you an honest answer when you call (unlike many, many other concrete companies).
Q. What are you hours of operation?
A. We can deliver concrete to your project between the hours of 7 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. We are open on Saturdays too, between 7 am till 11am, weather permitting. Our office is open for your calls from 6 am until 4:30 pm.
